Artefita has developed, around three months ago, a compostable tape that is being showcased for the first time since Tuesday at the Techtextil fair in Germany. Tiago Silva, Marketing Manager, explains to T Jornal that this new addition to the company’s portfolio is made from a biopolymer derived from sugarcane and biopolyester.
The main advantage of this solution is that it is compostable in a domestic environment. The sample displayed at the stand, located in Hall 11.1 within the Portuguese island, has been composting for 55 days and already shows visible signs of degradation. The process is expected to be completed within one year.
Tiago Silva highlights that the company is still in the testing and certification phase, but is pleased with the results achieved, noting that the breaking load is 150 kg and that the solution is mainly intended for agricultural applications.
On display, in framed presentations, are other tapes that showcase the company’s 30 years of accumulated know-how, described as true “works of art” in the sector. In this context, the company reinforces that made-to-measure tapes are its core business, being fully customised to the client’s needs. “We offer several customisation methods: sublimation, screen printing, transfer and jacquard,” the manager lists.
On another wall, higher value-added products are displayed, such as straps integrated with accessories, including buckles and hooks. “We work with logistics, nautical industry, pet sector, among others,” says Gonzaga Oliveira from the sales department, also highlighting applications in laundry trolleys, outdoor straps and safety barrier tapes, including in airports.
Artefita also has a strong presence in the bicycle sector and in the development of baby chair harnesses. The company started exclusively producing tapes by the metre, and after three years evolved towards a higher value-added strategy, now also supplying finished products.
Participation in Techtextil is seen by the team as an important contact point with existing and potential clients, reinforcing its presence in the international market.
