Alec Fabrics made its debut at Texpremium London, held on 23–24 June, and describes its first participation in the event as “clearly very positive.”
“We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the contacts we established and the level of interest shown by the brands. It was a highly productive trade fair, and we left with several concrete opportunities to develop over the coming months,” Cláudia Faria, the company’s General Manager, told T Jornal.
In her view, participating in the exhibition was a natural fit given the company’s premium positioning. “We aim to work with brands that value innovation, sustainability, quality and collaborative development, and that is exactly the environment we found at the fair,” she said.
According to Cláudia Faria, the brands visiting the Alec Fabrics stand showed a strong focus on product quality, the origin of raw materials and the establishment of long-term partnerships. “The UK remains a strategic market with significant potential for companies like ours. We feel that British brands increasingly value proximity and transparency throughout the supply chain, creating interesting opportunities for Portugal,” she emphasised.
Despite the current political changes taking place in the UK, the executive remains optimistic about the future of commercial relations with the market. In her opinion, during periods of greater uncertainty, supplier proximity and supply chain security become even more important.
At its first appearance at Texpremium London, the company showcased a selection of premium knitted fabrics, highlighting developments made with cellulosic fibres, namely Tencel™ and Tencel™ Luxe, alongside linen and cotton proposals. The collection also demonstrated a strong commitment to traceability, soft and versatile knits, and a range of printing techniques. According to the company, there was also a noticeable increase in demand for products made from more natural fibres.
The positive response from the British market has strengthened the Alec Fabrics team’s confidence regarding the months ahead. “In recent years, we have witnessed a significant shift in the way brands approach their supply chains. Proximity, flexibility and responsiveness have become decisive factors. Portugal is well positioned to benefit from this trend, thanks to its textile heritage, innovation and commitment to sustainability,” Cláudia Faria highlighted.
Alongside the UK, Alec Fabrics continues to focus on expanding into other strategic markets, including France, Germany and the Nordic countries. “Texpremium was an opportunity to showcase the identity and the fully integrated industrial capabilities of the Alec Group. We left the fair even more confident in the potential of Made in Portugal,” the executive concluded in statements to T Jornal.
