MILANO UNICA: A FAVORABLE BALANCE TO FROM PORTUGAL

Another edition of Milano Unica closes its doors in the Italian fashion capital. As usual, Portugal had a strong committee that participated in the fair. Presenting the Autumn-Winter 23/24 collections, the companies return home with a positive evaluation of the event.

Although it was shyer and less busy than in the pre-pandemic period, the Portuguese companies returned home with good business prospects. “The first day was calmer, but the second day was much better. It presented Italian, German, English but also American, Australian and Asian customers, especially buyers from Korea, Japan and some from China”, says Sofia Botelho, director ATP executive, who accompanied the From Portugal delegation.

Centered on European fabrics – since the fair is made up exclusively of European exhibitors, along with two observatories, one Japanese and the other Korean – the event proved its dynamism. For example, companies such as Modelmalhas, Riopele, and Paulo de Oliveira “spent their days working and with a full stand”, as Sofia Botelho reports.

Albano Morgado, Anbievolution, Brito & Miranda, CFM, Fitecom, Le Europe, Lemar, Modelmalhas, TMG Textiles|MGL were the companies that made up the FROM PORTUGAL delegation. Adalberto, Paulo de Oliveira, Penteadora, Somelos, Riopele, and Tassimax also joined and were also a part of the Portuguese committee.

The participation of Portuguese SMEs in Milano Unica stems from yet another initiative by Selectiva Moda and ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal within the scope of the From Portugal project, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the Fashion area. The project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020, through the European Regional Development Fund.
