Modtissimo 54 was the stage for the selection of 14 more candidates to the iTechStyle Awards, which will join the 11 nominees from past February’s edition. They will be competing for the jury’s choice, which shall announce the winners of the four categories – Fabrics, Sustainability/Green Circle, Products and Accessories – during the next iTechStyle Summit, scheduled for next April, at the Leixões Harbour’s Cruise Terminal.
“We have very good examples of innovation, products that are getting into the market, some of them truly revolutionary”, reveals José Morgado, CITEVE’s head of the Department of Technology and Engineering and one of the members of the jury.
Here is the list of the 14 nominees:
Scorecode Têxteis – Designed for the clothing sector, the fibre absorbs the outside energy from sunlight and radiates it onto the body as red and near-infrared radiation, providing several benefits for its user, such as reducing fatigue, rejuvenating the skin and accelerating the recovery of inflammations or joint pain. Other benefits include cooling and Max UV Protection
Lemar – Combines environmental responsibility with advanced technology. It’s a recycled fabric, extremely light, made from plastic bottles, but with a strong external brightness, due to the use of a transparent and breathable membrane
NGS Malhas – A techno-sustainable mesh with biodegradable and recyclable fibres. Blends three different materials: biodegradable polyamide, organic cotton and polylactic acid
TMG – It’s the most technical of all candidates. It is a smart hybrid textile structure made from carbon, a material that is extremely hard to process. Ideal for the auto industry, not only for soft components, but also to the rigid ones, as its conductive capacity allows monitoring
Polisport – Motorcycle vest for off-road protection. New materials (polymers and textile structures) meet design and a different approach to the market, through moulding by overinjection. The production is quicker, and the product is more practical, comfortable and breathable than existing alternatives. Certified for all protection norms and it is ready to be put on the market
Oldtrading – Seamless clothing for the sports and techno-fashion sectors. It is made from recycled synthetic fibres and is breathable, super elastic, anti-static, quick dry and high tenacity
Têxteis Penedo – Pillow2bed, a decorative pillow that unfolds into a complete bed with mattress, sheets and a quilt, owing to its ingenious and innovative design. It is an extra bed that doesn’t take too much space and can be carried anywhere
Joaps – A mesh made from several sustainable fibres: biologic cotton, hemp and nettle. Besides presenting a virtually boundless number of uses, the mesh is simultaneously antibacterial, anti-static and highly breathable
ERT – Fabric with a coating made from wastes of the auto and shoe making industry. The dress is a perfect example of circular economy, by using residue that would have no other use otherwise
A. Sampaio – Combination of several natural fibres (cotton and wool) with functional fibres (polyamide and acrylic), sourced from used clothing
Confetil – A proposal that is highly circular. It is made from other clothing items and the design of this set is already made thinking of its recycling, as its different components are easily separated by the final consumer.
Envicorte – The combination of a pleated lace structure with a digital print
Louropel – Buttons made from recycled paper
Fábrica de Botões Elite – Buttons endowed with NFC technology, readable with a mobile phone app, that can contain any information, from the brand’s website to product’s technical details
