LAVANDER AND GINSENG AMONG TRIMALHAS’ NEW TRUMP CARD

Technical knitwear with microcapsules able to incorporate perfumed or therapeutic substances, releasing them in a continuous and gradual fashion. This is Trimalhas’ most recent bet, directed for the sportswear and lounge wear market, and symbolizes the company’s growing investment in premium articles.

“In the samples we presented, we have two encapsulated perfumed substances, one is lavender and another is ginseng, and our goal is that people feel the smell and realize the potential of this knitwear, which can even contain medicinal substances”, details Carolina Pinto, market manager at Trimalhas, a company founded in 2003 by the brothers Antonino, Joaquim and Tadeu Pinto (Carolina’s father).

“It’s a first layer knit, designed to be in contact with the skin. Its effect is gradual and continuous, and holds for more than 20 washes”, states the company’s representative.

Microcapsule knitwear is one of the examples of the company’s growing bet on more mature and value-added markets, featuring a catalogue evenly split between a premium collection – composed by microcapsules, but also cashmere, merino wool, micromodal fabric and silk – and a sustainable collection, made from recycled polyester, Ecovero, Lyocell and organic cotton.

In 2019, Trimalhas registered a revenue of around 16 million euro, 45% of which destined for external markets. Spain, France, Italy and Germany are some of its main geographies.
