ADALBERTO GOES GREEN AND WANTS TO SELL 40-MILLION-EURO IN 2020

Closing 2020 with a business volume of 40 million euro is Estamparia Adalberto’s bold goal, which would represent a huge leap forward since the group’s consolidated sales in 2019 were in the vicinity of 25 million euro.

“In the last few years we have registered an upward curve in our business, which kept going throughout 2019 with an uptick. Now, the challenge is to reach 40 million”, confides Susana Serrano (photo), who took over the executive leadership of the company in May 2019.

A growth sustained by the company’s new strategic plan, divided between sustainability, innovation and social responsibility, and entailing an immediate investment of around 2 million euro, whose flagship measure consists of installing 2150 solar panels.

The photovoltaic panels should be up and running in August, with a payback period of four years and will provide energy for the entire factory, as for the Wastewater Treatment Station as well. All in all, the system is expected to fulfil 40% of the company’s energy needs.

“This percentage isn’t greater only because we work in three shifts, 24 hours per day. However, we will only use green energy since the one we get from the distribution network comes from renewable sources”, guarantees Susana Serrano, Estamparia Adalberto CEO.

The investment in sustainability also entails a zero-discharge policy (already initiated), the adoption of sustainable printing techniques, reaching savings up to 75%, and the gradual replacement of the company’s 16 car fleet, which will all be electric.

“We are establishing agreements with yarn companies in order to reuse our waste, reconverting it into other raw materials. Reusing leftover raw materials is not only ecologically sound, it also optimizes our profit”, ensures Susana Serrano, who moved from the Aquinos group to Adalberto two years ago.

Also underway are two projects: one of recirculation of all the water used in production – with an innovative technical solution, still in development and internal testing – and another called ‘No Paper’, which aims to digitally scan all the company’s documents in three years’ time.

“The way our business plan was designed, the 40-million-euro goal is quite feasible. No new machinery is needed; we’ll rather make better use of our current installed capacity. What we must do now is approach differently the clients we have, as well as gather new clients and entering new markets”, concludes the CEO of Estamparia Adalberto, which employs 385 workers.
