COTON COULEUR IS SPREADING OUT TO NEW MARKETS AND CLIENTS

After five consecutive years registering a business volume growth of two digits a year, Coton Couleur has begun steadying sales, having closed 2019 with a turnover of 12.3 million euro, a 6% increase compared to the previous year.

“We are entering the spread out phase, where to keep on growing we must broaden our client portfolio and reach new markets”, states the CEO Carlos Carvalho.

With a team of 19 people, the company started in 2013 raking in 3 million euro and has a business model based on exporting 100% made in Portugal home textiles.

“Cutting, manufacturing, dyeing and finishing, all these stages are entirely made in Portugal”, ensures the CEO of Coton Couleur, whose client portfolio features resounding names such as Zara Home, Carré Blanc, Linvosges or John Lewis.

For now the company only operates under the private label regime, but “the possibility of working under our own brand is not off the table”, explains Carlos Carvalho.

Spain, UK, France and Scandinavia are the company’s main markets, but “in order to grow, we must deepen our presence in countries like Australia, South Korea or Japan”, reminds the CEO of Coton Couleur.

With its own design office, Coton Couleur is focused on sustainability, using recycled plastic from the oceans as well as blends of hemp and cotton, linen and lyocell, linen and bamboo or even 100% bamboo.

“We have all the required certifications – ISO 9001, GOTS, Oeko-Tex, BCI, Sedex – which enable us to approach different markets, with differentiated products and increased added value”, enumerates Carlos Carvalho.
