CONFETIL’S NEW OUTFIT IS 100% RECYCLABLE

It was with the future in mind that Confetil decided to innovate and create an outfit developed from 100% recycled materials. Based on the circularity design principle, this outfit is a response to the new athleisure trends, which links sports with fashion.

It is a new a product “that at the end of its life may be separated by colour and by fibre”, explains Dionísia Portela, sustainability manager of the Portuguese company (picture, centre). This outfit, which includes a sweatshirt and trousers, carries in its back a series of instructions for the “end consumer to cut and recycle all of its parts”, describes Dionísia Portela.

Even though, right now, the textile recycling can only be made by the industry, Dionísia Portela believes that, in the future, this reality will change and that “textiles will be integrated in the recycling circuit of the end consumer”.

Besides providing the possibility for the end consumer to be an active part in the process of sustainability, this Confetil set is also innovative from a technical standpoint. “Most of the garments we see in the market, even those made from organic materials, are multifibre and multiple colours, which makes recycling unfeasible”, relays the sustainability manager of the company from Maia, pointing to the fact that this outfit is made from 100% recycled polyester and polyamide.

The Portuguese company does not have its own brand, so the Confetil’s sustainability manager is expecting that the outfit will arouse interest for production on behalf of some highly renowned brands that they work with.
