ZANZIBAR BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN TRADITION AND LUXURY

It’s called Zanzibar the new Portuguese company of high-range luxury accessories inspired in Portuguese tradition, but turned to the world. The first collection is already available exclusively at Minty Square, the online platform specialized in fashion. Zanzibar uses national raw materials such as burel or the Alcobaça chintz to develop items with an original design.

With this, they make hats and bags that, according to the brand’s press release, are adequate for “day-to-day formal moments, practical without forsaking elegance”. The name of the young Portuguese company was not chosen at random. Zanzibar, the archipelago in the Indian Ocean, was the centre of a trade route inaugurated by the Portuguese that sailed to India. “That’s why it was chosen, since the ships of Vasco da Gama anchored there, bringing in light and embroidered fabrics that would spawn the Alcobaça chintz”.

Sustainability concerns are also at the top of Zanzibar’s priorities, therefore the company looks for “materials developed under strict environmental protection parameters, all in favour of a planet with a future”, the brand stated.
