WE SUSTAIN: THE NEW ACCELERATOR FOR TEXTILE SUSTAINABILITY

They are young, represent a new generation of the Portuguese textile industry and want to take an active role in the sustainable transition. Ana Silva Tavares and Daniel Pinto gathered several years of experience in the area and launched We Sustain, a technical consultant that wants to support manufacturers and fashion brands in the transition to the sustainable path without falling into the trap of Greenwashing.

“Companies have great difficulties when it comes to find human resources that combine an experience in textiles with a background on sustainability”, explains Ana Tavares, who after several years working as director of the sustainability department at Tintex, joined forces with Daniel Pinto, director of development and strategy at Scoop, to create this new consultant, oriented towards responsible textile production.

We Sustain helps its customers define a sustainability strategy and develop innovative projects, building a bridge between brands looking for sustainable solutions and companies that already have good practices in place.

“When companies contact us, we make a diagnosis, we understand what its position is, we identify the goal, and we see what work has already been done. Then we move on to the execution phase, in which we advise on the necessary certifications, and we get involved in innovation projects”, explains Ana Tavares.

The essential is to avoid the danger of Greenwashing: companies that claim to be sustainable without a real base, or other ones that already have established practices, but are communicating them in the wrong way.
