VINTAGE FOR A CAUSE AWARDED BY THE YVES ROCHER FOUNDATION

Helena Antónia Silva (in the picture, at the most recent Neonyt Berlin), leader of the Vintage For a Cause project, was acknowledged at the 11th edition of the Terre de Femmes awards, by the Yves Rocher Foundation, an organization that strives to support and provide visibility for women’s projects in the environmental sector, with sustainable solutions that contribute for a more positive carbon footprint.

Vintage For a Cause is a circular economy fashion brand that promotes social inclusion and female empowerment through upcycling clothes. Started in 2012, the project reuses textile waste and used clothes to create exclusive garments, in cooperation with several designers, reduce the fashion industry’s impact on the environment.

Beyond sustainability, the project also carries a strong social impact through their programme From Granny to Trendy. The initiative aims to fill the existing gap in the occupational activities that are granted to women that are unemployed or who don’t feel suited for the traditional activities.

With the Terre de Femmes Prize, a donation worth ten thousand euro, Helena Antónia Silva aims to create a pop-up store that will host awareness workshops – and is also selected for the international ceremony, taking place on April 9th.
