The jury has made their decision at MODtissimo 55, and the list of products, fabrics and accessories applying for this year’s edition of the iTechStyle Awards is here. The winners will be announced during the iTechStyle Summit, taking place from April 28th to 30th, at Porto Cruise Terminal.
Brandbias, Impetus, Estamparia Adalberto, Cork-a-tex New Generations Yarns, Tearfil, LMA, Envicorte, Bordados Oliveira and Eurobotónia, are the companies behind the submissions.
The nine items that made their way into the exclusive club of nominees will join the 18 that had already been elected – in a group where innovation, sophistication and research reach a degree of excellence that the iTechStyle Awards aims, above all, to highlight.
The three products, three fabrics and three accessories that have joined the group of candidates are:
Products
Company: Brandbias
Application: Sports
Functionalities: Breathable, waterproof, high-tenacity, lightweight, easy cleaning, biodegradable, water repellent and recycled.
Differentiating factors: Jacket that converts into a shopping bag made from EtaProof/Weatherproof GOTS cotton. This product versatility contributes towards a sustainable set. T-shirt printed with sustainable nettle and cotton, and organic cotton jogging pants. The whole outfit is gender neutral.
Company: Impetus Portugal Têxteis
Application: Sports
Functionalities: Breathable, waterproof, quick dry, thermos regulator, lightweight, biodegradable, recycled and seamless.
Differentiating factors: Sustainable materials and biomimetic inspiration. High resistance to water and wind, natural insulator, use of nanofibres, ultrasound seams and thermal bonding.
Company: Estamparia Adalberto
Application: Sports
Functionalities: Breathable, quick dry and recycled.
Differentiating factors: World’s first activewear that incorporates CBD. It’s made from a recycled high-performance mesh with a patented finish based on microcapsule technology. The microcapsules contain cannabidiol, which is released by the body’s movements, possessing anti-stress, anti-inflammatory and relaxing properties, and is rich on anti-oxidants. It uses a sustainable printing process: no use of water or harmful chemicals.
Fabrics
Company: Cork-a-tex New Generations Yarns
Composition: 90% cotton, 9% cork
Applications: Sports (shoes); construction, and decoration (coating and furniture); auto (coating and interiors); health and well-being (technical clothing and block).
Functionalities: Breathable, anti-bacterial, biodegradable and recyclable.
Differentiating factors: Jacquard fabric in an elaborate web design made from patented cotton/cork thread.
Company: Tearfil Textile Yarns
Composition: 50% viscose, 25% hemp, 25% nettle
Applications: Sports (first and second layers, outer layers); construction and decoration (coating); auto (coating and interiors); industry (technofashion)
Functionalities: Breathable, antibacterial, quick dry, UV protection and biodegradable.
Differentiating factors: Raw and organic fabric made with botanical fibres from the Himalayan regions and wood from sustainable forests. The use of these natural fibres has no impact on the environment.
Company: LMA
Composition: High molecular density polyethylene
Applications: Sports (first and second layers, external layers, motorsport); individual protection (firefighters, police and defence, special operations); construction and decoration (coating); industry (technofashion and motorsports).
Functionalities: Breathable, quick dry, high tenacity, lightweight, easy cleaning and anti-cuts.
Differentiating factors: Exceptionally resistant to cuts, tears, perforations and abrasion. It offers the highest security measures for the several applications, and was designed to make protective clothing, work clothing, uniforms, tactical clothing, motorsport and EPI. It is an innovative combination of highly technical fibres, in high-density machines.

Description: Large-sized soleil pleat, with the possibility of reconverting to a clothing item.
Company: Bordados Oliveira
Description: A set of electronic accessories that, by a unique process, may be applied quickly onto any textile. Developed in partnership with Brave Particle.
Company: Eurobotónia, Indústria de Botões
Description: Carbon fibre composition, with a similar resistance to metal.
