INÊS AMORIM’S BRAND AT PARIS FASHION WEEK

The Portuguese brand Ernest W. Baker, co-founded by the duo Inês Amorim and Reid Baker, debuted on the official calendar of the Paris Fashion Week, which this year was developed mainly in digital format. The pair opted for a video that links the brand with Viana do Castelo city.

“This is what we have always worked to achieve because it is a very large audience. The entire world fashion industry sees and pays attention to Paris,” said Inês Amorim to Lusa news agency.

This is the first time that a Portuguese brand makes it to the official calendar of this event, walking alongside brands like Louis Vuitton, Ungaro or Hermès. “We decided to make a video about the brand, the city where we live, Viana do Castelo, and, of course, about our collection”, said the designer.

“Of course it is different not to have an audience and not be able to see the reaction to the collection. It is different from a fashion show. However, we have to seize the opportunities, stretching our creativity to the limit”, said Inês Amorim.

The collection from the Portuguese brand was inspired by the families of the two creators, showcasing a “naïve” feel, with soft colours. In 2018, Ernest W. Baker was among the 20 semifinalists at the LVMH awards (the French group that includes brands like Louis Vuitton, Céline and Christian Dior).
