THE CHARITABLE MASKS OF ROSELYN SILVA

Flashy patterns to call everyone’s attention to a charitable cause. The designer Rosalyn Silva found inspiration in the Capulanas, a colourful traditional African fabric, to make a line of masks ablaze with all kinds of colours. A portion of the revenue will go to the Solidarity Campaign of the Embassy of São Tomé and Príncipe, birthplace of the stylist.

“Sustainability is in everything we do, therefore I chose to make community masks reusing the thousand bits of African Capulana fabrics I have in my studio. We can help the people and the planet too”, described the designer, who has kept a close connection with African inspired patterns since establishing its own brand in 2013.

Born in São Tomé but living in Portugal since she was four years old, Roselyn holds a special tie with the archipelago. Therefore, the masks were also conceived with the charitable project for her native country in mind. “Part of the sales reverts to the Solidarity Campaign of the Embassy of São Tomé and Príncipe in Portugal, to support the fight against Covid-19 in São Tomé and Príncipe and to aid the citizens that have to search healthcare in Portugal”, she explains.

The masks are 100% cotton and are made in an envelope shape, allowing a filter to be placed on the inside. They are being sold on the official pages of Roselyn Silva’s studio on Facebook and Instagram.
