TÊXTILOBO SET ON EXPORTING MASKS, FROM ITALY TO THE USA

It was one of the first to certify a disposable mask model according to the technological centre CITEVE and Infarmed – the Portuguese Authority of Medicines – regulations, is already producing from 20 to 30 thousand masks a day and orders keep coming in. Têxtilobo – The Textile Company, from Barcelos, is now awaiting the certification of the new social and reusable models and is gearing up to export to markets such as Spain, Italy, Germany and the United States, through their regular clients in the fashion business.

With a production that has always been directed towards clothing manufacturing, the company never fully stopped since the pandemic settled in, but suffered a 50% break nonetheless. That forced the company to direct itself towards producing masks, ultimately becoming one of the first companies to comply with the regulations defined by the authorities and to feature in the list of models approved by CITEVE.

“We have been getting many, many queries. Big clients, fashion brands, but also our suppliers that wish to know how many masks can we sell them”, explains the company’s director, Pedro Alves.

For now, production is undergoing for the already approved disposable model and, depending on the volume of orders, Pedro Alves says that production of 20 to 30 thousand units daily is easily reached.

“We also submitted to CITEVE two social reusable mask models, though we will only accept orders when the centre gives its approval”, explains Pedro Alves, who believes that promising business might arise from this new product. “A client called asking when could we make five million to deliver in Switzerland”, he discloses, as an example, adding that he was also contacted to supply masks for the workers of two big distribution groups, one of them French.
