PÉ DE CHUMBO DEBUTS DENIM COLLECTION MADE FROM RECYCLED SURPLUS

It is a debut in denim – a collection made from surplus production with the aim of promoting textile recycling. Pé de Chumbo’s capsule collection was presented at Portugal Fashion, having already passed through Paris and Milan, where it was distinguished by Candiani with the golden label and rivets. “A surprise, I didn’t know this collection was going to be so well-received,” says Alexandra Oliveira, the brand’s creative designer.

This was Pé de Chumbo’s debut in denim, but also on floral prints, in a collection that gives a second life to fabric waste. “It all started with us trying to recycle denim leftovers, which turned out to be very well accepted at the fairs and exceeded all expectations,” says Alexandra Oliveira.

After the presentation in Milan, Candiani, an Italian brand that assigns golden labels and rivets to denim collections that are out of the ordinary, recognized the fresh look of the pieces and immediately signed a contract with the brand.

Entitled “Spring always comes back”, the collection was designed at the peak of the pandemic and has detailed white pieces that symbolize “purity and hope for the future”, which contrast with the “hardness in blue jeans that symbolizes what we have been through so far and what we still have to overcome”, explains Alexandra.

Color is another aspect that stands out: the rainbow palette recalls that “there is always hope”. The capsule collection hits stores in January.
