MYCLOMA IS A NEW PLATFORM FOR SECOND HAND TEXTILES

A group of five young Portuguese entrepreneurs launched MyCloma, an online platform that aims to reduce the ecological footprint of the textile sector in Portugal. By collecting and encouraging the purchase and sale of second-hand items, they want to help avoid wasting the more than 200 thousand tons of clothing that Portugal throws away every year.

The procedure couldn’t be simpler: just go to the www.mycloma.com and request the collect of the clothing or accessories you no longer use and that you want to sell. Once collected, the pieces are validated, photographed and put for sale on the platform. After the sale, the customer can use the amount earned to buy other items available on the platform, or request the transfer of the sum to his bank account.

The idea of the whole MyCloma concept came from the founder of the project, Ana Catarina Monteiro, an Accounting university student in Porto, whose sensitivity to issues related to sustainability and ecology led her to idealize a commercial project that would promote circular economy by extending the life of the clothing articles, thus reducing the environmental impact associated with the excessive consumption of clothing and accessories in Portugal.
