JF Almeida looking for markets outside Europe

JF Almeida, the home textile company from Moreira de Cónegos, is betting on diversifying its exporting markets, as a response to the mellowing of the main European markets – which have been losing steam for the past few months.

According to Juliana Almeida, one of the group’s directors, the USA and Dubai – as a possible bridge to penetrate the Arabian Peninsula’s powerful market – stand out as the most promising geographies with which JF Almeida is relying on in order to diminish the weight of the mature European markets on the company’s turnover.

However, she adds, Asia is on the company’s radar as well. Therefore, as they measure out the enormous and inevitable Chinese market, JF Almeida will also analyze the possibility of going to Macau – namely to evaluate the hospitality sector, vital to the company Mi Casa Es Tu Casa, parallel to JF Almeida and specialized in bed textiles, with a turnover of 10 million euro.

The European markets that have been growing cold in the past year are, according to Juliana Almeida, the French and the Spanish.

Specialized in felts, the JF Almeida group employs close to 600 workers and is estimated to close the year with a turnover close to 60 million euro, where more than 92% come from direct exports.
