DAILY DAY’S 100% BIODEGRADABLE COTTON MASK

It was one of the first social masks to be certified by CITEVE and is an example of the quick and versatile response of the Portuguese textile industry when faced with the Covid-19 paradigm. In a few weeks, Tintex and Daily Day, a brand from the LaGofra group, created an individual mask, with a single layer, which in addition to meeting the technical specifications of the Portuguese Health department, is also sustainable and seeks to assert itself as a fashion accessory.

A 100% cotton fabric was selected from the Tintex catalogue, with an interlock structure and able to guarantee a high level of breathability and particle retention. “We tried to keep our focus on natural materials because we also have to start thinking about the masks’ disposal. 100% cotton is biodegradable, and we also have the Bluesign certification, which is the most demanding in the world regarding textile chemicals”, highlights Ricardo Silva, Head of Operations at Tintex.

For the general director of the brand, protective masks can even become a fashion accessory. “In the East masks are widely used, and the same thing happened to us with sunglasses, which in addition to protection are nowadays mainly an aesthetic addition. I have no doubt that the same thing will happen to masks”, says the manager, setting his eyes on the post-Coronavirus horizon.
