BALENCIAGA AND MUGLER IN PAULA BORGES’ PORTFOLIO

Balenciaga and Mugler are the most recent acquisitions of Paula Borges’ customer portfolio, a club that includes a series of luxury goods brands such as Hèrmes, Mulberry, Victoria L.K. Bennett, Max Mara, Paco Rabanne and Nina Ricci.

“We are sought for being an industrial studio capable of putting out a small series with high quality, ensuring a quick response and respect for the delivery deadlines”, explains Paulo Faria, 48, designer and commercial manager of this company that employs 100 people in its Maia and Baião units.

Despite having the UK as its main market, Brexit is not a concern for the directors of the company. “The other day I enquired a British customer about the matter. Do you know what he replied? That he didn’t even want to know about it, and that I should rest assured since Brexit would not intervene in our relationship in any way”, relays Paulo Faria.

Last summer, the company has invested 200 thousand euro on a third cutting table and on the layout remodel of its Maia factory, whose production is now organized throughout seven cells, endowing the flexibility that has become the company’s competitive edge.

“We invested in order to improve our capacity and to be able to respond better and quicker to our clients. Improving our response improves our market share”, concludes Paulo, the strongman of the company that closed 2019 (“our best year so far”) with a business volume of 2.8 million euro, a 10% increase compared to 2018.
