AUSTRIAN DESIGNER VISITS MODTISSIMO AND FALLS IN LOVE WITH PORTO CITY

Present in Porto to participate in the last physical edition of MODTISSIMO, which took place in September 2020 at Alfândega do Porto, the Austrian designer Manuel Essl, creator of the sustainable and vegan brand Manuel Essl Design, fell in love with the city, having taken advantage of the visit to carry out a fashion editorial, using as background some of the most emblematic places in the city, such as Sé Cathedral and the Luiz I Bridge.

An improvised photo shoot that, according to the designer, achieved great international impact, having been featured in the CANDyMAG magazine.

“Wherever I travel I take a suitcase full of my latest creations with me. I knew that Porto offers unique places to shoot beautiful photos, so I set up the photo shoot with the amazing model Sabrina and the two of us created this small editorial. In the end, we loved the results so much that we decided to submit the photos to fashion magazines. And we were successful since the editorial was published in the CANDyMAG a few weeks later”, explains Manuel Essl to T.

The success of the visit to Porto did not stop there: the Austrian designer was very impressed with MODTISSIMO’s organization, one of the few physical fairs held during 2020.

“I came to MODTISSIMO looking for a Portuguese manufacturer of T-Shirts/Pullovers. I’ve had deep talks with three interesting companies, and I’m currently working on developing the first MED x made in Portugal pieces with one of these companies”, discloses the stylist.

“MODtissimo was organized very, very well in these difficult circumstances. I felt very comfortable, and it seemed to me that everyone was careful and following the rules. And on top: I loved Porto! I hope to be able to visit Porto soon again – for business and another photo shoot at different sceneries with the latest collection!”.

Founded in 2015, the brand, which produces women’s clothing and accessories for women, men and home textiles, combines haute couture and streetwear, using cheerful fabrics, youthful patterns and metallic details.
